Police said it is ‘very concerning’ that the 16-year-old Antioch girl who disappeared three days ago is still missing and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is now assisting in the search.
Emma Roberts, 16, of the 26100 block of West Spring Grove Road in unincorporated Antioch, was last seen Wednesday after dismissal time at her school in Salem, Wisconsin, where she attends Central High School District of Westosha, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives believe she was given a ride home from school and she packed a bag and left before her family arrived home.
Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that the sheriff’s office initially believed Emma may have been with a male friend named Jake. Detectives interviewed Jake and do not believe she is with him.
Emma has not been seen or heard from in three days, which is ‘very concerning,’ Covelli said, adding that she has never run away before.
Emma has ties to the Wisconsin area and could be in Kenosha or Racine counties, or still in Lake County, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said. Authorities in Wisconsin have been notified to look for her, Covelli said.
Emma was last seen wearing an army green jacket but authorities believe this may have changed because she packed clothes. She is 5-foot-7, 145 pounds, has blonde hair and blue eyes, and has a guitar tattoo on her left shoulder with the word “Dad” written near it.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the girl left home without a cellphone because her parents previously took it away from her as a consequence.
Anyone who sees Emma is asked to call 911 and those who have information about her disappearance are asked to call 847-549-5200.
