A man was charged with several felonies after police say he broke into four vehicles in Ingleside late Tuesday evening.

Joseph J. Sempek, 31, of the 26600 block of Wildwood Avenue in Ingleside, was charged with four counts of felony burglary and four counts of misdemeanor criminal trespass to motor vehicle.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded 10 p.m. Tuesday to the 35400 block of North Wilson Road in Ingleside for a report of a burglary to a vehicle.

Deputies searched the area for the offender and found Sempek near Wilson Road and Shandon Drive around 11:20 p.m. Deputies found several stolen items in Sempek’s possession, according to Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli.

In addition to the first burglary, police learned that Sempek burglarized two other vehicles on North Wilson Road and another in the 25800 block of West Marquette Drive in Ingleside, Covelli said.

Sempek was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail after the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges.

“The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reminds the community to always lock the doors to unattended vehicles and to always remove all valuables from unattended vehicles,” Covelli said.

Sempek remains held in the Lake County Jail on $150,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on December 10.
