Three people suffered life-threatening injuries and were flown to hospitals by helicopter following a rollover crash that ejected one of the victims early Sunday morning near Woodstock.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 2:03 a.m. Sunday to Charles Road west of Queen Anne Road in Greenwood Township, which is just outside of Woodstock, for a single-vehicle crash.
McHenry County Sheriff Deputy Sandra Rogers said that a 2019 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Charles Road when it drove off the north side of the roadway for unknown reasons.
The Toyota then struck a pole and a tree before rolling over onto its side. Three people were in the vehicle and one of them was ejected, Rogers said.
Two of the occupants were flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and the third occupant was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital where they were later transferred by helicopter to a trauma center.
ComEd responded to the scene to repair the electrical pole and accident investigators also responded due to the severity of the crash.
