The driver of an SUV was killed after driving off the road into a tree in Oakwood Hills Thanksgiving evening, police said.

The Cary Fire Protection District and Oakwood Hills Police Department responded around 10:20 p.m. Thursday to Rawson Bridge Road and Brittany Drive in Oakwood Hills for a single-vehicle crash.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Sandra Rogers said that an SUV was traveling eastbound on Rawson Bridge Road between Brittany Drive and Del Miller Lane when it drove off the road for an unknown reason.

The 2013 Land Rover LR4 hit a tree after driving off the north side of the roadway, causing the 21-year-old driver to become heavily entrapped inside. Paramedics pronounced the man, who was a Barrington resident, dead at the scene, Rogers said.

No one else was inside the vehicle and the driver’s name is being withheld pending notification to their next of kin, Rogers said.
