A 37-year-old documented street gang member was arrested following a one-month investigation that concluded with police finding over 60 grams of heroin at his residence in Zion.

Andrew Q. Kaywon-Thomas, 37, of the 2800 block of Galilee Avenue in Zion, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class X felony, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 1 felony.

The Lake County Sheriffโ€™s Special Investigations Group and Zion Police Department concluded their investigation Wednesday morning with a search warrant at Kaywon-Thomas’ residence in Zion.

Detectives recovered over 60 grams of heroin from the home and arrested Kaywon-Thomas, a documented street gang member.

The Lake County Stateโ€™s Attorneyโ€™s Office approved the felony charges against Kaywon-Thomas and he appeared in bond court Wednesday.

Kaywon-Thomas remains held in the Lake County Jail on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on December 18.
