A head-on crash near Green Bay Road and Blanchard Rd in Beach Park left three people dead Saturday morning | Lake and McHenry County Scanner.

Two men and a woman died after a car drove into the opposite lane and struck another car head-on in Beach Park early Saturday morning, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Beach Park Fire Department responded around 4:45 a.m. Saturday to Green Bay Road and Blanchard Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries.

Sheriff’s deputies found a 2013 Honda Civic and 2008 Nissan Altima with heavy damage, according to Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli.

The Nissan, driven by a 24-year-old Waukegan man, was traveling northbound on Green Bay Road just south of Blanchard Road. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Nissan crossed the center line and drove into the southbound lanes of traffic, Covelli said.

The Nissan struck the southbound Honda, driven by a 71-year-old Beach Park man, head-on.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Nissan, a 23-year-old Waukegan woman, were transported to area hospitals and pronounced dead, Covelli said. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigators and the Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. An autopsy has been scheduled on Monday for the three victims.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
