A 27-year-old Crystal Lake man was sentenced to five years in prison for selling cocaine to a confidential informant in April, prosecutors said.
Daniel T. Hawkins, 27, of the 1700 block of Somerfield Lane in Crystal Lake, pleaded guilty to unlawful delivery of cocaine less than 15 grams, a Class 1 felony.
Hawkins was originally charged with various drug charges and gun charges after he sold cocaine to a confidential information on April 11, according to a criminal complaint.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hawkins, who is a convicted felon, on a warrant following the drug deal and found him in possession of other drugs and over 200 rounds of firearm ammunition, the criminal complaint stated.
The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office offered Hawkins a plea deal and dropped all of the charges in exchange for him pleading guilty to unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
Hawkins was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt and will be required to pay $2,346 in court costs.
The case was investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Brette Dunbar of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
