Three suspects were taken into custody after a pursuit of a vehicle wanted in connection with a shooting in Zion ended in Winthrop Harbor Monday evening, police said.

The Zion Police Department attempted to stop a silver Volkswagen in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road and it fled the area.

The Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin Police Department located the vehicle a short time later on Springbrook Road. It refused to pull over and turned southbound onto 39th Street in Pleasant Prairie.

After the Volkswagen crossed back into Illinois it traveled southbound on Lewis Avenue and the Winthrop Harbor Police Department successfully deployed three sets of stop sticks, which are tire deflation devices, forcing the vehicle to stop near the intersection of 11th Street and Lewis Avenue, Winthrop Harbor Police Detective Sgt. Willets said.

“A high risk motor vehicle stop was conducted by police officers from the Winthrop Harbor, Pleasant Prairie and Zion Police Departments which resulted in the subsequent arrests of three suspects,” Willets said.
