The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals arrested a Florida man, wanted for kidnapping and armed robbery, inside a hotel room in Vernon Hills on Thursday.

Willie A. Johnson III, 25, of the 3400 block of Northwest 1st Court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, had a no bond warrant for armed kidnapping and robbery with a firearm.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force were notified by U.S. Marshals in Florida that Johnson was possibly in the Lake County area.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team developed information that Johnson was staying at the Hotel Indigo, 450 North Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills, officials said.

Members of the Sheriff’s Warrants Team, Sheriff’s Tactical Response Team and a Sheriff’s Canine Team entered Johnson’s hotel room and apprehended him without incident, according to Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli.

Johnson was transported to the Lake County Jail and will be held pending extradition to Broward County, Florida.
