Hunter Grabowski, 24, of Lake Barrington, was arrested in connection with numerous vehicle burglaries in which detectives recovered a large amount of stolen items.

A Lake Barrington man was arrested after police recovered over a 100 items stolen during vehicle burglaries throughout Lake and McHenry counties, police said.

Hunter Grabowski, 24, of the 500 block of Beacon Drive in Lake Barrington, was charged with two counts felony burglary. Additional charges are pending.

On Wednesday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested Grabowski at his Lake Barrington residence. The man was wanted on a $50,000 failure to appear warrant for a theft charge.

While serving the warrant, detectives located property which was stolen in a nearby burglary, according to Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli.

Grabowski, who was the suspect in several area car burglaries, was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and detectives obtained a search warrant for Grabowski’s residence, Covelli said.

While conducting the search warrant, sheriff’s detectives located over 100 items stolen during vehicle burglaries in Lake, McHenry and Cook counties.

The property of several victims who previously filed reports with their local law enforcement was recovered at Grabowski’s residence, Covelli said.

“Breaking into someone’s home or vehicle and stealing their hard-earned property is despicable and a complete violation of their privacy,” Sheriff John Idleburg said.

“I am happy our detectives recovered a significant amount of property and they will eventually be able to reunite the valuables with their owners,” Idleburg added.

Grabowski appeared in court Thursday morning and he remains held in the Lake County Jail.
