A man has been charged with numerous felonies, including attempted murder and home invasion, after a 29-year-old man was stabbed and left in serious condition Thursday in Crystal Lake.
Michael A. Vrba, 35, of Crystal Lake, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, home invasion, residential burglary, aggravated domestic battery and two counts of aggravated battery.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:22 a.m. Thursday to the 6000 block of Acorn Court in unincorporated Crystal Lake to assist the fire department on a medical call.
Deputies discovered a 29-year-old Crystal Lake man with knife wounds, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry where he was flown by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He remains in serious but stable condition Friday.
Vrba, who was taken into custody Thursday evening, remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $1 million bond.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and sheriff’s officials have not released any additional information regarding the incident.
