Police believe an impaired driver was the cause of a head-on crash on Route 134 in Round Lake Park that sent two people to the hospital Friday evening.
The Round Lake Park Police Department, Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District and Grayslake Fire Department responded around 10:10 p.m. Friday to Route 134 and Porter Drive in Round Lake Park for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
The crash occurred in front of the Pizza Place on Route 134 between Macgillis Drive and Porter Drive. A Cadillac SRX and a Chrysler 300 sedan were involved in the head-on collision.
Firefighters extricated one of the drivers from their vehicle. Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Both victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The Round Lake Park Police Department said that impaired driving was suspected in the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
