Eduardo Gutierrez, 21, of New Rochelle, New York.

U.S. Marshals and police located a 21-year-old New York man wanted on gun and drug charges at a Waukegan home on Thursday, authorities said.

Eduardo Gutierrez, 21, of the 0-100 block of 4th Street in New Rochelle, New York, was wanted on a no-bond warrant for criminal possession of a firearm, bail jumping and conspiracy 2nd degree drug sales.

Earlier this month, the Sheriff’s Warrants Team received information from U.S. Marshals on the New Jersey/New York Task Force that Gutierrez might be hiding in the Waukegan area, Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said.

Further investigation showed that Gutierrez was avoiding apprehension by staying at a residence in the 500 block of Oak Street in Waukegan, Covelli said.

Police arrested Gutierrez without incident at the Oak Street residence and found him in possession of a semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number.

He was transported to the Lake County Jail and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved additional charges of possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and fugitive from justice.

Gutierrez remains held in the Lake County Jail and will appear in court on January 22.
