Maurillo Melgoza, 74, was reported missing early Sunday morning from his Waukegan home.

UPDATE: He has been found safe.

Police are asking the public’s help in finding an endangered 74-year-old man who has Alzheimer’s and left his Waukegan home in frigid temps early Sunday morning.

Maurillo Melgoza, 74, was last seen around 12 a.m. Sunday at his home in the 2800 block of Central Avenue in Waukegan.

The Waukegan Police Department was called around 4 a.m. after a family member found the front door of the home open and Melgoza missing.

Waukegan Police Department Cmdr. Joe Florip said that Melgoza suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and would not have normally left the home on his own.

The man was last seen wearing a thin gray jacket and black sweatpants with black and gray slippers. It is possible that Melgoza is not wearing anything on his feet at this point, Florip said.
