A McHenry man was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing child pornography as part of a plea deal offered by prosecutors.
Joseph Gould, 33, of the 400 block of North Hill Road in McHenry, pleaded guilty in December to one count of reproducing or selling child pornography, a Class X felony.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dismissed seven counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of reproducing or selling child pornography.
Gould, who faced between 6 to 30 years in prison, received the minimum sentence of six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He will also be required to pay over $5,000 in fines.
Gould was arrested in February 2017 after authorities found evidence of child pornography at his residence in McHenry.
The Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office conducted the warrant.
Gould remains held in the McHenry County Jail while he awaits transfer to prison.
