A man allegedly fired a gun at a Woodstock home Monday after his ex-girlfriend pulled into the driveway with another man, police said.
Brandon W. Leisten, 23, of the 2300 block of Linden Lane in Woodstock, was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and disorderly conduct.
The Woodstock Police Department responded around 12:15 a.m. Monday to the 2300 block of Linden Lane for a shots fired call.
Woodstock Police Chief John Lieb said that a woman arrived at the home where she lives with Leisten, who is her ex-boyfriend according to court records.
“The female arrived at the driveway of her residence with a male associate, moved one of her cars in the driveway, and then began to drive away in her second vehicle when she heard what sounded like a single gunshot,” Lieb told Lake and McHenry County Scanner.
The woman moved to a safe location and called police. Officers investigated and determined there was probable cause to arrest Leisten after numerous pieces of evidence were recovered, Lieb said.
A criminal complaint filed in court Monday alleged that Leisten discharged the gun an unknown number of times while he was at the front door of the home.
Leisten was appointed a public defender and released from the McHenry County Jail after posting bail, records show.
