Police are investigating after a gunman fired shots into a Zion home, striking a 20-year-old victim early Friday morning.
The Zion Police Department responded around 4 a.m. Friday to the 2200 block of Jethro Avenue for multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area.
Responding officers located multiple spent casings in the roadway and also found a victim. The victim, a 20-year-old Zion resident, suffered a non-life-threatening wound and refused medical treatment.
A preliminary investigation showed that shots were fired into a residence, striking the 20-year-old victim, police officials said. No charges have been filed yet.
It is unknown if the 20-year-old victim was the shooter(s) intended target or not.
The incident remains under investigation by the Zion Police Department and anyone with information is asked to call police at 847-872-8000.
