Police are asking for witnesses to come forward after five people were injured, including three seriously, in a two-vehicle crash Saturday near Buffalo Grove.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District responded around 3:35 p.m. Saturday to Milwaukee Avenue just south of Parkway Drive in Buffalo Grove for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Buffalo Grove Deputy Police Chief Michael Szos said that a 2020 Volvo sedan and a 2015 Honda SUV were involved the crash.

Five people were transported to a local hospital and three of them were in serious condition at the time of the incident, a spokesperson for the Buffalo Grove Police Department told Lake and McHenry County Scanner.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to assist the Buffalo Grove Police Department with the accident investigation.

Milwaukee Avenue was shutdown in all directions between Aptakisic Road and Busch Parkway for several hours Saturday.
