Police are searching for a gunman who shot a 20-year-old man in his car as he was attempting to meet with a woman in Zion Sunday afternoon.

The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire/Rescue Department responded around 3:15 p.m. Sunday to the 2100 block of Bethesda Boulevard for a report of a person shot.

Officers learned that the victim, a 20-year-old Zion man, went to meet with a woman in the 2900 block of Willow Lane. He was shot once in the abdomen by a male Hispanic while he was sitting in his car.

The victim drove to the 2100 block of Bethesda Boulevard and called 911. Paramedics transported the man to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police did not say why the man was meeting with the woman or if he knew her.
