A Wisconsin man is in critical condition after his van struck a tree and a utility pole and then rolled over in unincorporated Waukegan Monday afternoon, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 12:50 p.m. Monday to Green Bay Road and Keith Avenue in Waukegan Township for a single-vehicle crash with injuries.

Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that a 2006 Ford Econoline was traveling northbound on Green Bay Road approaching Keith Avenue.

The Ford, driven by a 52-year-old Kenosha, Wisconsin man, crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic, struck the curb, a tree, and a utility pole. The vehicle rolled onto its side before coming to a rest.

Emergency crews found the driver laying partially outside of the van. It is unknown if he was partially ejected in the crash or crawled out of the wreckage, Covelli said.
