Jaime C. Caldwell, 32, of Wonder Lake.

A Wonder Lake man has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child, who is under the age of 13 and a relative of the man, court records show.

Jaime C. Caldwell, 32, of the 7100 block of Algonquin Road in Wonder Lake, has been charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, and one count of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

A criminal complaint alleges that Caldwell committed an “act of sexual conduct” with a 12-year-old girl by touching her breast under her shirt. The victim is a family member of Caldwell’s, the document says.

A concerned family member notified the sheriff’s office on February 17 and an investigation was launched by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. It is unknown where the incident, which occurred on January 30, took place at.

A McHenry County judge issued a warrant for Caldwell on February 21 and the McCullom Lake Police Department arrested him on Monday during a traffic stop.

He remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $40,000 bond. Caldwell, who has not been appointed an attorney yet, is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning for a status hearing.
