A 28-year-old man has taken into custody after being charged with robbing a victim of property valued between $10,000 and $100,000 in North Chicago.
Antonio D. Ellis, 28, of the 9300 block of Bay Colony Drive in Des Plaines, was charged with aggravated robbery and theft.
The North Chicago Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Ellis on September 26.
Police allege that Ellis knowingly took property from a victim while threatening the imminent use of force, according to the arrest warrant.
The value of the items stolen from the person were in excess of $10,000 and less than $100,000, but police did not release the specific amount or what exactly was taken.
Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that members of the Sheriff’s Warrants Team were tasked with conducting a fugitive apprehension investigation to arrest Ellis, who was avoiding apprehension.
An investigation led them to a residence in the 9300 block of Bay Colony Drive in Des Plaines, where it was believed Ellis was staying, Covelli said. They apprehended the man on Thursday without incident.
