Police are searching for a man armed with a knife who robbed a GNC vitamin store in Lake Bluff Friday afternoon.

The Lake Bluff Police Department responded around 1:05 p.m. Friday to the GNC, 955 Rockland Road, for a report of an armed robbery.

Lake Bluff Interim Chief of Police Michael Hosking said that a subject brandished a large knife at an employee and collected an undetermined amount of cash from the store’s register.

The employee was not injured. The man fled the scene in a silver sedan.

Hosking said that that the suspect was described as a male black, 25-35 years old, approximately 5-foot-6, medium build and short black hair. He was wearing a brown goose down jacket and a black scarf.

Police have not released any surveillance photos of the robbery.
