A 45-year-old Deerfield man with mental and physical disabilities was reported missing and police believe he got lost on his way to Chicago Monday evening.

Teodoro “Ted” R. Ordonez, 45, of the 1000 block of Waukegan Road in Deerfield, was last seen leaving his residence, where lives with his mother, around 12 p.m. Sunday.

His family came to the Deerfield Police Department around 9 p.m. Monday to report him missing, according to Deerfield Deputy Police Chief Brian Budny.

Ordonez got on an inbound Metra Milwaukee District North train at the Deerfield Road station at 1:26 p.m. Sunday, Budny said. The man was heading to Chicago to meet with friends on the north side of the city.

“A series of messages and texts were exchanged indicating the missing person was lost within the vicinity of the intended meeting place,” Budny said.

The last message was sent at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday and no other contact has been made with Ordonez since.
