Two people were wounded during a daytime shooting Tuesday in North Chicago, officials said.

The North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department responded around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Grove Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive for a report of a shooting.

North Chicago Interim Community Information Coordinator Jim Moran confirmed to Lake and McHenry County Scanner that two people had been shot.

Both of the victims were transported by ambulances to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Moran said that the two victims were in stable condition.

Crime scene tape was setup around the scene and police placed over a dozen evidence markers in the street on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Moran said that additional information was not immediately available. It is unknown if any suspects are in custody.

The shooting remains under investigation by the North Chicago Police Department.
