A Harvard woman has been charged with selling pills prior to a man dying of a drug overdose in the parking lot of Mercy Hospital in Harvard on Saturday.
Jessica E. Stoneburner, 29, of the 1400 block of Northfield Court in Harvard, was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 3 felony.
The Harvard Police Department and Harvard Fire Department responded around 4:11 a.m. Saturday to the parking lot of Mercy Hospital, 901 Grant Street, for a medical issue. A man, identified in court documents as Daniel Bane, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Harvard Police Sgt. Nick Hill said that a further investigation led to the arrest of Stoneburner.
Court documents show that Stoneburner and another woman took Bane to the hospital after he suffered an apparent drug overdose.
A Harvard police detective who spoke with Stoneburner learned that Stoneburner drove Bane and the other woman to Chicago to purchase drugs on Friday, a motion filed in court shows.
Stoneburner purchased alprazolam in Chicago and sold a portion to the other woman in Wonder Lake, the court documents said.
Stoneburner remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $10,000 bond. The incident remains under investigation by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office and Harvard Police Department.
