A juvenile suffered a graze wound to the head and a woman was also shot during a ‘targeted’ shooting in Zion Monday evening, police said.

The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire-Rescue Department responded around 8:30 p.m. Monday to the 2100 block of Gideon Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Witnesses reported hearing 5-6 gunshots and officers located two victims who had been struck by the gunfire — an adult female and a juvenile male.

The woman suffered a single gunshot wound to her arm and the boy suffered a single graze wound to the head, police said.

Both victims were transported by ambulances to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment. Doctors classified both injuries as minor, police said.

“At this point of the investigation detectives believe there is no threat to the general public and that this was a targeted attack over an ongoing dispute,” the Zion Police Department said in a statement.
