A Harvard man was charged with attempted murder following a shooting that left another man injured Tuesday evening, police said.

The Harvard Police Department responded around 9:12 p.m. Tuesday to the 1100 block of North Hayes Street for a report of a disturbance.

Officers located a 37-year-old man laying in the driveway of a residence with a gunshot wound.

Paramedics with the Harvard Fire Protection District treated the man and transported him to Mercy Hospital in Harvard.

Harvard Deputy Police Chief Tyson Bauman said that a white truck was seen leaving southbound from the scene towards McKinley Street following the incident.

The Lake Delton, Wisconsin Police Department located the suspect vehicle two hours later in their jurisdiction.

Frank M. Amato, 46, of the 500 block of West McKinley Street in Harvard, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and reckless conduct.

Amato is being held in the Sauk County, Wisconsin Jail awaiting extradition to McHenry County, Bauman said.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Harvard Police Department.
