A 28-year-old man was charged with home invasion after he allegedly broke into a home near McHenry and beat a woman with a belt, causing injuries.
Jonathan V. Tracey, 28, of the 1-100 block of Maude Avenue in Fox Lake, was charged with home invasion, criminal trespass to a residence, criminal damage to property and battery causing bodily harm.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:20 a.m. April 3 to a residence in the 5700 block of Fox Lake Road in unincorporated McHenry.
A criminal complaint filed in court alleges that Tracey knowingly and without authority entered the residence of a woman, knowing one or more people were inside.
The complaint says that Tracey intentionally caused injury to the woman by striking her face, neck, and arms with his belt.
Tracey remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Tracey is barred from any contact with the victim or her residence if he is released on bail, a court order said.
Tracey is scheduled to appear in court again on April 29 for a preliminary hearing.
