A large police response was sent to a Vernon Hills neighborhood after several shots were fired Saturday evening.

The Vernon Hills Police Department responded around 11:22 p.m. Saturday to the 1-100 block of Parkside Court in Vernon Hills for a report of shots fired.

Dispatchers received several 911 calls about the shots and responding officers located a pistol and several spent shell casings outside an apartment, according to Vernon Hills Police Officer Jeff Hemesath.

Officers spoke with several people at the scene and determined no one was injured. An ambulance was called to standby at the scene.

Hemesath said that no one was arrested; however, witnesses told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that police detained three people in handcuffs at the scene.

“This appears to be an isolated incident without further threat to the community,” Hemesath said in a statement.
