A 20-year-old woman was seriously injured following a t-bone crash in Gurnee Wednesday morning, police said.
The Gurnee Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday to Hunt Club Road and Gages Lake Road for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Gurnee Police Public Information Officer Shawn Gaylor said that the crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier and a 2017 Honda Civic.
The Chevrolet, driven by a 20-year-old Gurnee woman, was traveling westbound on Gages Lake Road and the Honda was traveling northbound on Hunt Club Road.
The Chevrolet entered the intersection and collided with the Honda, which was driven by a 32-year-old Gurnee man, Gaylor said.
The female driver of the Chevrolet suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
She was taken into surgery after arriving at the hospital and her current condition is unknown, Gaylor told Lake and McHenry County Scanner.
The male driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries and he did not require hospitalization. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
Investigators with the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) responded to the scene and aided with an extensive crash investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Gurnee Police Department and MCAT. No citations have been issued yet.
