An 82-year-old man died and another person was injured after a crash involving a Hummer and a work truck in Mundelein Tuesday morning.
The Mundelein Fire Department and Mundelein Police Department responded around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday to Route 176 and Route 60-83 near the Walgreens for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Mundelein Police Department Commander Gary DuHamel said that the collision involved a Hummer H3 and a work truck at the intersection. Both drivers were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The driver of the Hummer was later pronounced dead around 9:23 a.m., DuHamel and Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper told Lake and McHenry County Scanner.
Cooper said that the driver of the Hummer was an 82-year-old Mundelein man. His name is being withheld pending notification to his next of kin.
DuHamel said that the driver of the work truck is believed to have suffered minor injuries.
The roadway was closed for almost four hours while the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) conducted an investigation. The road was reopened around noon.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mundelein Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
