A masked man was arrested after he allegedly battered a man and tried carjacking him in the parking lot of a CVS in McHenry.

Cory M. Wolf, 41, of the 3700 block of Waukegan Road in McHenry, was charged with robbery, aggravated battery in a public place and two counts of criminal damage to property.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges that Wolf physically attacked a man in the parking lot of the CVS, 3900 Elm Street in McHenry, just after midnight on April 16.

Wolf caused bodily harm to the victim by striking him in the face and neck numerous times, causing a bloody nose and lacerations, the criminal complaint says.

He then threw the victim to the pavement, causing cuts and lacerations to the victim’s arms, the complaint says.

During the attack, Wolf, who was wearing a mask, indicated he was armed with a gun and attempted to steal the victim’s car keys and 2013 Ford Focus, the complaint says.

The victim’s vehicle and another person’s vehicle incurred between $300-$10,000 in damage each, court records show.

Multiple attempts by Lake and McHenry County Scanner to reach the McHenry Police Department for comment about the incident went unanswered.

Wolf was appointed a public defender and his bond was initially set at $50,000 but reduced to $30,000, court records show.

Wolf remains held in the McHenry County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court again on June 11.
