James R. Weeden, 69, of Island Lake.

An Island Lake man, who is a registered sexual predator, was arrested after police found a pornographic image of a child under the age of 13 in his possession.

James R. Weeden, 69, of the 3800 block of Hale Lane in Island Lake, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography, a Class 1 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court says that Weeden possessed a digital photograph of a young female child that was exposed from the waist up.

The complaint, which was filed by an Island Lake Police Department parole agent, said that the child’s partially developed breasts were exposed in the photo and she was posing in a lewd exhibition.

Officers arrested Weeden on April 21 and he remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Weeden was appointed a public defender and is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested Weeden in 2014 and charged him with nearly a dozen charges after investigators found thousands of images and videos with child pornography in his possession.

The sheriff’s office said at the time that Weeden had also took nude photographs of a child younger than 13 while the child was at the man’s residence.

He was found guilty in 2015 and sentenced to three years in prison along with having to register as a sex offender.
