A 16-year-old who suffered critical injuries was among three teens injured after their vehicle slammed into a tree near Huntley Friday evening, police said.
The Huntley Fire Protection District and Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:15 p.m. Friday to the 41W300 block of Powers Road near Huntley in Rutland Township for a single-vehicle crash.
Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain said that a Nissan Sentra, driven by a 15-year-old Lake in the Hills girl, was traveling eastbound on Powers Road from Route 47.
The vehicle went around a curve and drove off the roadway to the south before striking a tree, Hain said.
The female driver was transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley with minor injuries.
A 16-year-old passenger from Huntley was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital and then airlifted by a medical helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in critical condition.
A third passenger — a 15 year old from Huntley — was transported from the scene by a family member to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital with unknown injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
