A 48-year-old woman is in serious condition after she was ejected from a golf cart during a crash near Antioch on Saturday, the sheriff’s office said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Antioch Fire Department responded around 7:20 p.m. Saturday to the 24000 block of West Beach Grove Road in unincorporated Antioch for a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries.

Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that sheriff’s deputies arrived and found a golf cart crash and one person seriously injured.

A preliminary investigation shows a golf cart, driven by a 37-year-old Antioch man, was traveling westbound on Beach Grove Road.

For an unknown reason, the golf cart drove off the south side of the road and struck an embankment. This caused a 48-year-old female passenger to be ejected and she sustained significant injuries, Covelli said.

The woman was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries. The driver was uninjured.
