Two police officers helped rescue an infant and a young family after their car rolled over into flood water in Lake Forest Friday morning.

The Lake Forest Police Department and Lake Forest Fire Department responded around 1:22 a.m. Friday to Route 41 and Westleigh Road for a report of a vehicle crash.

A vehicle traveling northbound struck a pole north of Westleigh Road before rolling over in a flooded ditch. Two adults and a toddler were reportedly inside the vehicle.

The car was on its side partially submerged in water.

Police officers Kruchko and Blomberg were first on scene and helped rescue the young family from the car, according to the Lake Forest Police Department.

“Thankfully, everyone was okay as a result of the crash. These officer’s readiness, rapid thinking, and execution reflect their high level of dedication and professionalism,” the department said.

At least one person was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

Requests made to police by Lake and McHenry County Scanner for additional information were not immediately answered Friday morning.
