A 48-year-old woman was flown by helicopter to a hospital in serious condition following an ATV accident in Spring Grove Wednesday evening.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded around 8:17 p.m. Wednesday to Muriel Road and Maple Avenue in Spring Grove for a report of an ATV accident.
McHenry County Sheriff Sgt. Aimee Knop said that a 48-year-old Spring Grove woman was driving a 2015 Polaris ATV.
The woman was traveling southbound on Maple Avenue and was ejected from the ATV as she attempted to navigate the turn onto Muriel Road, Knop said.
The 48-year-old woman was not wearing a helmet and sustained a head injury. A LifeNet medical helicopter responded to the scene and landed near Whiskey Waters bar, 7237 State Park Road.
The helicopter flew the woman to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she remains in serious condition, Knop said.
The cause of the accident is unknown and remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
