One juvenile was charged and another is being sought in connection with a shooting in Gurnee on Thursday, police said.

The Gurnee Police Department responded around 5 p.m. Thursday to the area of Magnolia Avenue and Grand Avenue for a report of multiple shots fired.

Gurnee Police Department Spokeswoman Shawn Gaylor said responding officers located two juvenile subjects matching the suspect descriptions provided by one of the 911 callers.

A thorough investigation took place and officers determined four individuals were involved in an altercation, including the two subjects located by officers.

As officers took one juvenile into custody, the second juvenile fled the area on foot, Gaylor said. Officers established a perimeter and a search for the subject using a police canine was unsuccessful.

No one was injured during the altercation and subsequent shooting, Gaylor said. “This was an isolated incident, and there appears to be no immediate threat to the public.”
