Police are searching for two gunmen who robbed a Family Dollar store of money in Gurnee on Sunday.

The Gurnee Police Department responded around 5:20 p.m. Sunday to the Family Dollar, 3521 Grand Avenue, for a report of a panic alarm inside the business.

Gurnee Police Department Spokeswoman Shawn Gaylor said that officers learned two male black suspects entered the store.

The two men brandished a firearm and demanded money from the cash register. They took an unknown amount of cash.

The suspects fled the area in a vehicle before officers arrived, Gaylor said. Gurnee detectives are actively working the case to identify the men.

Witnesses described the suspects as young male blacks approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10 with skinny builds. Both were wearing black clothing and white shoes.
