A Waukegan man has been charged with sexually assaulting at least five young girls between the age of 5 and 8 in the early 2000s, police announced on Thursday.
Eliseo Calderon, 54, of Waukegan, was charged with four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
The Waukegan Police Department launched an investigation on May 4 into a possible sexual assault investigation based off an anonymous complaint.
Waukegan Police Cmdr. Joe Florip said that the complaint centered on Calderon as a possible suspect and detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigation’s Division began investigating the incident immediately.
During the investigation, detectives located five female victims who were 5 to 8 years old at the time of the offense. Detectives believe the crimes occurred between 2000-2006 in Waukegan, Florip said.
Based on the investigation, Calderon was arrested on Tuesday. He was charged and transported to bond court on Wednesday.
Calderon remains held in the Lake County Jail on a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on June 24.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on Calderon or those who believe they may be a victim of the man to contact Detective Tim Ives at 847-599-2678.
