A Wauconda man was arrested on a warrant for allegedly raping a juvenile co-worker in a wooded area last year, police said.
Luis F. Perez-Diaz, 33, of the 1100 block of Barbara Lane in Wauconda, was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
An arrest warrant was issued for Perez-Diaz on May 21 and the man was taken into custody without incident at his Wauconda home on May 26.
Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that Perez-Diaz gave a ride home to a juvenile co-worker on August 1.
While transporting her home, he allegedly pulled over in a desolate wooded area and forced the juvenile, who was between 13 and 17 years old, to engage in an act of sexual penetration, Covelli said.
A thorough investigation ensued by Lake County sheriff’s detectives before the arrest warrant was issued.
Perez-Diaz was released from the Lake County Jail after posting 10 percent of his $75,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on June 23.
