Crystal Lake sex predator charged with possessing child pornography

A Crystal Lake man, who is a registered sexual predator, has been charged with possessing numerous pornographic images of children, court records show.

Andrew J. Looman, 32, of the 4000 block of Fox Trail in Crystal Lake, was charged with eight counts of child pornography.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department conducted an investigation and found Looman in possession of at least eight digital photographs on Tuesday, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court.

The photographs showed unclothed girls under the age of 18, the criminal complaint said.

An arrest warrant was issued on Thursday and officers arrested Looman the same day, court records show.

Looman was convicted in McHenry County of raping a 6-year-old child when he was 15 years old in the early 2000s, according to the Illinois State Police. He is a registered sexual predator, the state database shows.

Looman remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $60,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Monday for a bond hearing.
