Over a dozen shots were fired during a shootout in broad daylight in Zion on Saturday, police said.

The Zion Police Department responded around 1 p.m. Saturday to the 1900 block of Joppa Avenue for a report of a shooting.

Officers located 15 spent 9mm casings in the roadway. Nearby surveillance cameras captured a black four-door vehicle with a light skin male black firing a handgun from the front passenger seat.

The shots were directed at a black male who was on foot. The surveillance video showed the pedestrian pulling a handgun and returning fire, police said.

Witnesses described the vehicle as possibly being an older model Toyota with tinted windows. The witnesses confirmed both men fired shots at each other.

There were no injuries. The Zion Police Department is asking for the public’s help in the investigation.
