A 39-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to the hospital after he drove his motorcycle off the road near Harvard Thursday evening.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Harvard Fire Protection District responded around 10:07 p.m. Thursday to Lawrence Road and Perkins Road in Chemung Township outside of Harvard.
A preliminary investigation shows that a 2006 Harley-Davidson FLHXI motorcycle was traveling southbound on Lawrence Road approaching Perkins Road.
The Harley-Davidson left the roadway and went into the ditch, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, and sole occupant of the motorcycle, a 39-year-old Poplar Grove man, was flown by a Mercyhealth REACT helicopter to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford.
The man suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition, officials said.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol is believed to be a factor.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit.
