A 69-year-old man was ejected from his motorcycle and later died at the hospital after crashing into a car near Woodstock Saturday morning.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 10:42 a.m. Saturday to the 13500 block of Route 176 in unincorporated Woodstock.
Deputies located a two-vehicle crash involving a 2008 Toyota Corolla and 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that collided on Route 176 west of Dean Street.
The Toyota and motorcycle were both traveling westbound when the Toyota began to pull off to the shoulder, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said.
While the Toyota pulled off to the shoulder on the north side of the road, the motorcycle also drove onto the shoulder and struck the rear passenger side of the Toyota.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified as a 69-year-old Genoa man, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said the 69-year-old man was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital where he later died.
The driver of the Toyota, a 31-year-old Lisle woman, did not sustain any injuries.
The roadway was closed for nearly five hours while crash investigators conducted an investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
