A 27-year-old man was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after he crashed his car into a tree near Woodstock Tuesday evening.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10:03 p.m. Tuesday to the 2900 block of South Country Club Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a single-vehicle crash.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Sandra Rogers said that deputies arrived and found a 2006 Toyota Avalon sedan that had struck a tree.

Firefighters removed the seriously injured driver — a 27-year-old Woodstock man — from the vehicle.

Paramedics transported him to Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital. He was subsequently flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for additional treatment, Rogers said.

A preliminary investigation shows that the Toyota was traveling southbound on Country Club Road when it exited the roadway to the east for unknown reasons.

The vehicle traveled through the ditch on the east side of the road passing McConnell Road and re-entered the roadway.

It then crossed over and exited the roadway again, this time to the west where it struck a tree, Rogers said.

The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
