A juvenile was seriously injured and two others were also hurt after a four-vehicle crash involving a work van, SUV and two sedans in Wadsworth Friday afternoon.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Winthrop Harbor Fire Department responded around 3:40 p.m. Friday to Route 173 and Green Bay Road in Wadsworth for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Francis Foy said that deputies arrived and found four vehicles involved west of the intersection.
A preliminary investigation shows a 2018 Ford cargo van was traveling eastbound on Route 173 when it struck a 2013 Hyundai sedan that was stopped in traffic.
The Hyundai then struck a 2005 Range Rover, which was also stopped in traffic.
The impact with the Hyundai caused the Ford van to go into oncoming traffic and strike a 2009 Toyota traveling westbound on Route 173. The Ford van ended up in a ditch.
Seven ambulances from numerous fire departments responded to the scene.
A juvenile passenger from the Toyota was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The juvenile driver of the Toyota and a second juvenile passenger were transported for minor injuries, Foy said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriffโs Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
