A 21-year-old woman was charged with first-degree murder for fatally stabbing her boyfriend in the middle of the street, police said.
Jacqueline Mora, 21, of Zion, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
The Zion Police Department responded around 5:01 a.m. Monday to the 2600 block of Gilboa Avenue in Zion for a report of a man down and not breathing.
Responding officers located a 23-year old Waukegan man, identified as Greagory X.J. Gilmore, lying in the street with a puncture wound to his chest.
Zion Police Chief Kirk Henderson said that officers began CPR and requested an ambulance from the Zion Fire and Rescue Department.
Gilmore was transported to Vista Medical Center East where he was pronounced dead at 5:37 a.m.
Henderson said on Tuesday that Mora stabbed Gilmore in the chest with a knife, according to a criminal complaint.
The knife was recovered at the scene, Henderson said, adding that Mora and Gilmore were in a domestic relationship.
Mora was arrested and transported to the Lake County jail. She will appear in bond court on Wednesday.
The Lake County Major Crime Task Force assisted with evidence collection at the scene and the Zion Police Department conducted the investigation.
