A 47-year-old man, who is a felon, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for burglarizing a Lake in the Hils home.
William M. Bobiek, 47, of the 2400 block of Hessing Street in River Grove, was sentenced as a Class X offender on the offense of residential burglary, which is usually charged as a Class 1 felony.
The Class 1 felony carries a 4-15 year sentence, while a Class X felony carries a 6-30 year sentence.
Bobiek pleaded guilty during a negotiated plea deal to breaking into a Lake in the Hills home on October 14, 2014.
A bill of indictment said that Bobiek broke into a residence in the 100 block of Crystal Lake Road in Lake in the Hills. It is unknown if he stole anything.
McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt sentenced Bobiek on Friday to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
He will serve a three year period of mandatory supervised release upon his release from prison.
The investigation was conducted by the Lake in the Hills Police Department and prosecuted by Taylor Nesbit of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
